These two specs define the experience: sharp visuals for work and smooth motion for play. The monitor weighs just 2.01 pounds and includes dual USB-C and HDMI ports. It supports VESA mounting and comes with a protective cover. This listing focuses on portability without sacrificing screen size or speed. You get a wide viewing angle and full sRGB color coverage in a thin, lightweight package.
What stands out
- 144Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth motion
- 17.3-inch IPS panel with 100% sRGB color gamut
- Dual full-featured USB-C ports and one HDMI input
- Standard 75x75mm VESA mount holes for flexible setup
- 2.01 lb weight for easy travel in a bag
Who it fits
Good fit for
This monitor suits travelers who need a large secondary screen without heavy bulk. Gamers using laptops, consoles like PS5 or Xbox, or Switch will benefit from the 144Hz refresh rate and low input lag. Professionals who work in cafes, hotels, or airports will appreciate the wide 17.3-inch display and VESA mount options. If you need a portable screen that handles both crisp text and fast-moving games, this spec sheet offers a strong balance of size and speed.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you require 4K resolution or high brightness for outdoor use. The 280-nit brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio are modest for well-lit environments. Buyers needing built-in speakers or a built-in battery will find this model lacking, as it relies on external power and display audio. If you prefer a smaller, more pocketable device, the 14-inch variation might be better, but this 17.3-inch model is designed for desktop-like immersion on the go.
Verdict: The MAGICRAVEN M1702 offers a large, fast, and lightweight portable display for mobile setups. Its 144Hz IPS panel and dual USB-C connectivity make it a practical choice for gamers and remote workers.
Key specs explained
Screen Size: 17.3"
This diagonal measurement offers a large canvas for multitasking while remaining portable. You get ample space for split-screen workflows without the bulk of a desktop setup. The 17.3-inch form factor fits well in most laptop bags. It provides a comfortable viewing area for extended work sessions or immersive gaming, balancing portability with screen real estate.
Resolution: 1920*1080
Full HD resolution ensures crisp text and clear images on this large panel. You will see sharp details in documents, spreadsheets, and media. This standard pixel count is ideal for most laptops and consoles. It delivers a balanced clarity that prevents pixelation, making it suitable for both professional tasks and entertainment without requiring high-end graphics power.
Refresh Rate: 144Hz
A 144Hz refresh rate updates the image 144 times per second, reducing motion blur. You will notice smoother gameplay in fast-paced titles and fluid cursor movement. This high rate is beneficial for gamers seeking competitive advantages. It also makes scrolling through web pages or videos feel more responsive compared to standard 60Hz portable monitors.
Panel Type: IPS
IPS technology provides accurate colors and wide viewing angles. You can view the screen from the side without significant color shift or contrast loss. This makes it easier to share content or work in group settings. The panel type ensures consistent image quality across the entire display, which is essential for photo editing or general productivity tasks.
Connectivity: 2x USB-C, 1x HDMI
Dual USB-C ports allow for video and power delivery through a single cable if your device supports it. The HDMI port offers compatibility with older laptops and consoles. This variety ensures you can connect to most modern devices. You can choose the cable type that best fits your current setup, simplifying your travel kit and reducing clutter.
Design and build overview
The MAGICRAVEN M1702 is a black portable display designed for mobility. According to the listing, the monitor weighs 2.01 pounds for the screen alone. The full package, including packaging materials, tips the scale at 2.2 pounds. This low mass allows you to slide the unit into most laptop bags without adding significant burden. The thin profile, listed at just 0.39 inches thick, further supports its portability. You can carry it to offices, hotels, or cafes with ease.
The build includes a protective cover that doubles as a stand. This allows for immediate use without extra hardware. You also have the option to use a standard VESA mount. The back features 75x75mm VESA holes, letting you attach the monitor to a desktop arm or wall mount. This flexibility lets you switch between landscape and portrait modes as needed. The design prioritizes adaptability for different environments.
Controls and inputs are integrated into the side or bottom edge, though specific button layouts are not detailed in the provided data. The device relies on two full-feature USB-C ports and one HDMI port for connectivity. You can connect with a single USB-C cable if your host device supports it. This streamlined approach reduces cable clutter. The finish is a standard matte black, which helps reduce reflections during travel. The overall construction suggests a focus on durability and ease of transport for gamers and professionals on the go.
Setup and everyday use
Connecting this monitor is straightforward. You have two full-featured USB-C ports and one HDMI port. If your device supports full-featured USB-C, you can use a single cable for both video and power. This simplifies your workspace by reducing cable clutter. For devices without that port, you can use the HDMI connection along with a separate power source. The listing states that no driver installation is needed. You simply plug in and the screen works immediately. This applies to most laptops, Macs, PCs, and gaming consoles like the PS5, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
The monitor supports landscape or portrait modes. You can use the included cover to stand it on a desk, or use a VESA mount. The back features standard 75x75mm VESA holes. This allows you to attach it to a desktop arm or wall bracket for a more permanent setup. The 178-degree viewing angle of the IPS panel ensures the image stays clear even if you view it from the side.
For daily use, the 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium technology help reduce screen tearing and ghosting. This is useful for fast-paced gaming. The 100% sRGB color gamut provides accurate colors for work tasks. The 280 nits brightness and anti-glare coating help in various lighting conditions. At 0.39 inches thick, it slides easily into a bag. You can take it to the office, a coffee shop, or a hotel. The lightweight design makes it easy to carry without adding significant bulk to your travel gear.
Before you buy this monitor
The MAGICRAVEN 17.3-inch portable monitor requires careful planning for mobile use. You must verify that your source device has a full-featured USB-C port. This port handles both video and power delivery. Without it, you will need an extra power source and an HDMI cable. The listing notes compatibility with laptops, Macs, PCs, and consoles like PS5 or Xbox. Check your specific device specs to ensure support. The display weighs 2.01 pounds, but the total package is 2.2 pounds. You should pack it securely to protect the IPS panel. Regular cleaning with a dry cloth maintains the anti-glare coating. This model sits at the higher end of refresh rates in this category. It suits gamers needing 144Hz smoothness. It also works well for productivity. Compare its 100% sRGB color gamut against other options. Ensure its 17.3-inch size fits your travel bag. This monitor is ideal if you prioritize screen real estate and motion clarity over compactness.
